Rom 1:19-23 — “Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.”
It almost seems that the apostle Paul was looking around at our modern world when he penned these words. Truly so many around us have become fools professing their own wisdom. Those who cannot look at nature and see God, whose minds are educated beyond their intelligence, who look at the wonders of nature and see them as accidents with no purpose or design behind them are fools who profess to be wise.
Is it vogue to deny God? Does it make us look more educated, more cosmopolitan, more erudite? Has science proved the theory of evolution? Have scientists proved there is no God? Has archaeology disproved the Bible? On the contrary, the more we know of our physical world, the more we know it could not have happened accidentally. The more ancient sites we dig up, the more we find of the history of our world, the more the Bible is proved reliable and historical.
There is coming a day when it will not be fashionable to deny God. In fact, every knee will bow and each man will give an account of himself to God (Romans 14:11-12). What will the fools of this world say then?
